More Motorcycle Camping
Motorcycle camping can mean so many different things to different people, so it's really up to you to decide what your needs are. We have chosen motorcycle camping as our preferred way to vacation. We have a pop up camper that we pull behind the bike. The motorcycle camper offers plenty of storage, so we carry a screen room, folding chairs, stove and cooking equipment, folding tables, fishing rods, lanterns and a cooler. We usually have it planned to where we are going, how long we are staying, and which campgrounds we will be at. Now if I were trying to fast track it across the country I'm sure my gear list would change. I would maybe even consider leaving the camper behind. It does slow you down somewhat and if you're not planning on being at one place for very long you don't really need all the comforts we take with us. There are just so many things to consider while planning your motorcycle camping trip. Your plans really dictate what gear you need to carry with you. although there are some essentials you should never leave home without when motorcycle camping , regardless of the plans. Rain gear is a vital necessity when traveling by motorcycle, whether you're camping or not. Our Frogg Toggs stay on the bike 365 days a year. I've been caught in the rain too many times to leave them at home "ever". Another useful item that I have discovered are the crank up or wind up flashlights. Actually I was given my first one as a present, but these things are so handy I have three of them now. One stays on the bike at all times. The worst thing about a flashlight is it seems the batteries are always dead when you need it most. These little gadgets solve that problem beautifully. I have noticed that they don't hold a charge as well after leaving them inactive for a long period so it's probably a good idea to use them occasionally even when you don't need it.
